In the wake of a deadly attack in Beit Jin, which resulted in the loss of 13 lives, US President Donald Trump has urged Israel to refrain from taking actions that could further destabilize Syria. During a phone discussion with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump emphasized the need for an open dialogue and extended an invitation for Netanyahu to visit the White House.
Trump expressed his approval of Syria's leadership under President Ahmed al-Sharaa, recognizing the nation’s efforts in rebuilding amidst years of conflict and the potential for enhancing relations with Israel. The two leaders also deliberated on the importance of expanding regional peace initiatives and stressed the necessity of disarming Hamas and stabilizing Gaza.
Despite recent ceasefires, Israel continues its offensive against militant factions in neighboring territories, with the latest airstrikes targeting Hamas-linked fighters. Trump reiterated the United States' support for Syria's recovery efforts, underlining the broader goal of achieving enduring peace in the Middle East.
These conversations come at a time of heightened regional tensions, with the US administration advocating for stronger security collaboration between Israel and Syria to avert further escalations and assist in the reconstruction of the war-torn region.
