Ambassador Salem Saeed AlShamsi of the UAE has formally submitted his credentials to Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, who serves as the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), marking his role as the UAE’s Permanent Representative.
Post-ceremony, the two representatives engaged in talks aimed at bolstering the partnership between the UAE and ECOWAS, concentrating on shared goals in sustainable development, economic advancement, and regional stability.
During the ceremony, Ambassador AlShamsi delivered warm greetings from His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Dr. Touray, wishing prosperity for ECOWAS and its member nations.
Ambassador AlShamsi highlighted the UAE's unwavering commitment to fostering deep relations with ECOWAS and emphasized the significance of collaboration in vital areas, including investment and trade, to yield mutual benefits and sustainable progress.
His appointment as Permanent Representative to ECOWAS underlines the UAE’s commitment to engaging actively with African regional institutions. AlShamsi noted that this initiative would enhance partnerships across West African nations in multiple strategic sectors, contributing significantly to their development.
In response, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray expressed gratitude to Ambassador AlShamsi, recognizing the UAE's prominent global stature. He conveyed the need for intensified collaboration between ECOWAS and the UAE, focusing on initiatives that further joint development objectives.
Dr. Touray acknowledged the UAE’s accomplishments in various sectors, such as economic growth, infrastructure, and technology, and expressed ECOWAS's eagerness to learn from the UAE’s advancements to enhance development in West Africa.
At the end of their discussions, both sides reiterated their dedication to improving cooperation and strengthening partnerships aimed at promoting shared interests and sustainable development within the West African region.
