The ongoing collaboration between the UAE and Bahrain highlights the potential of regional partnerships, leading to tangible advancements. Grounded in a rich history of friendship, their alliance has transformed into one of the Gulf’s most reliable and effective partnerships.
Central to the UAE-Bahrain relationship are mutual cultural values and aligned developmental aspirations. This enduring foundation enables both nations to align on regional and global issues, fostering stability, peace, and sustainable growth for their communities.
As the UAE celebrates its 54th Eid Al Etihad alongside Bahrain’s National Day, the strength of their bond is prominently displayed. Years of robust people-to-people interactions paired with firm diplomatic collaborations have resulted in a partnership characterized by trust, continuity, and shared objectives.
Economic collaboration stands front and center as a crucial element of this relationship. The UAE ranks among Bahrain’s top three foreign investors, with total direct investments projected to reach AED16.5 billion by 2024—accounting for about 10 percent of Bahrain’s foreign investment inflows. Trade has experienced similar growth, as non-oil trade soared by over 182 percent from 2010 to 2023, from AED9.1 billion to over AED25.7 billion, leading to a total of AED231.6 billion in non-oil trade from 2010 to 2022.
Investment patterns reflect a robust sense of trust on both sides. More than 1,500 Emirati investors are currently engaged in Bahrain, and over 7,000 Emiratis hold shares in Bahraini-listed companies. Bahraini investments in the UAE remain strong, reaching AED5.1 billion by December 2023.
Beyond these figures, the partnership is manifesting in actionable projects across Bahrain. Emirati firms are implementing impactful initiatives in sectors including energy, infrastructure, healthcare, and sustainability. Continuous sharing of expertise is elevating both nations’ competitiveness, honing skills, and preparing talent for future-centered industries.
In summary, the collaboration between the UAE and Bahrain exemplifies how shared cultural values, aligned policies, and hands-on cooperation can yield enduring advantages—enhancing regional relations while making progress toward joint prosperity for both countries.
