The United Arab Emirates has expressed strong disapproval of the Iranian drone and missile strikes aimed at Bahrain and Kuwait, labeling these actions as significant violations of the sovereignty of both nations and a peril to regional stability.
In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs deemed these attacks as intolerable, highlighting the critical need to respect the sovereignty and security of all countries. They emphasized unwavering solidarity with both Bahrain and Kuwait, pledging support for their safety and national interests.
This condemnation followed reports from Bahrain and Kuwait, which indicated they successfully intercepted several missiles and drones originating from Iran on Saturday. Kuwaiti officials reported their defense systems neutralized seven missiles, while Bahrain confirmed the interception of three missiles along with various drones prior to reaching their designated targets.
Recent tensions escalated following US airstrikes on Iranian surveillance facilities located on Goruk and Qeshm Island, near the Strait of Hormuz, in response to concerns over Iranian drones allegedly posing threats to maritime traffic.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps later claimed responsibility for attacks on US military installations in Kuwait and Bahrain as retribution for the US actions, along with targeting tankers navigating the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE has called for calm and stability during these tumultuous times, underscoring the importance of regional security and advocating for initiatives that foster peace and curtail further hostilities in the Gulf region.
The UAE's condemnation of the Iranian attacks reflects an increasing concern regarding regional stability and the necessity to safeguard international security, trade routes, and the sovereignty of Gulf states.
