UAE Denounces Israeli Settlers' Incursion at Al-Aqsa Mosque

UAE Denounces Israeli Settlers' Incursion at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Post by : Badri Ariffin

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a strong condemnation regarding the recent incursion of Israeli settlers into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which occurred under the protection of Israeli police. This action, which included the raising of the Israeli flag within the mosque's vicinity, has been labeled a serious provocation and a flagrant act of extremism.

In an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the UAE highlighted the necessity of maintaining the historical and legal status quo of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The ministry not only called for the safeguarding of all religious sites but also underscored their significant spiritual importance.

Additionally, the UAE reaffirmed its backing of Jordan's custodial role over Al-Aqsa Mosque and expressed unwavering solidarity with Jordan in its endeavors to protect Islamic and Christian sacred sites in Jerusalem.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assigned responsibility to Israeli authorities for preventing such provocations and urged them to cease actions that could escalate regional tensions. The UAE warned that such events risk further destabilization and potential unrest.

The ministry reiterated the UAE’s strong opposition to any activities that contravene international law, legitimate international resolutions, and agreements relating to the Palestinian situation and the status of Jerusalem.

The UAE once again called upon the global community to intensify its efforts towards securing a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region. The importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state was emphasized, alongside the pursuit of peace through the widely recognized two-state solution.

Ultimately, the UAE reaffirmed its dedication to supporting all initiatives aimed at fostering stability, protecting religious sites, and ensuring a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
