The Dubai Press Club (DPC) recently hosted a session entitled “The Future of Regional Relations following the Iranian Aggression”. The event featured His Excellency Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Chairman of the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee within the Federal National Council (FNC).
Attendees included Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, VP and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of the Dubai Press Club, alongside Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club. Senior media figures, content creators, and professionals from various sectors participated.
During his address, Dr. Al Nuaimi discussed significant shifts influencing the region and their impact on regional ties amid rapidly evolving geopolitical landscapes. He pointed out key challenges and potential opportunities both regionally and globally.
He expressed that recent hostilities towards the UAE and Gulf states showcased the robustness and resilience of Emirati institutions. He noted the effective coordination among national bodies for safeguarding the nation and its achievements, a fact that surprised many observers given the high levels of preparedness.
Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasized the UAE’s priority on its citizens, citing instances where stranded travelers at airports received vital support, showcasing the country’s humanitarian ethos.
He also positioned the media as equally crucial to defense, security, and the economy, with media professionals serving as the nation’s voice. He highlighted that modern challenges extend beyond military matters to include media awareness and responsibility.
Additionally, he asserted that the UAE is committed to enhancing its defense, political, and economic frameworks while also refining regional and international relationships. He mentioned that national priorities are being realigned to cater to evolving global conditions, placing national interest at the forefront.
Dr. Al Nuaimi reiterated the UAE's commitment to forging genuine partnerships rooted in shared interests rather than superficial slogans, striving for stable, long-term relations.
He also addressed security advancements, revealing that the country had uncovered and disbanded a terrorist cell allegedly linked to the Iranian government, which aimed to undermine national security. He commended UAE security entities for their proficient management of the situation.
When discussing Iran, he stressed the necessity of distinguishing between the Iranian government and its populace, noting that it is often the ordinary citizens who suffer the most. He affirmed that the UAE treats the Iranian community fairly, refraining from politicizing their residency.
Dr. Al Nuaimi cautioned against misleading media narratives, emphasizing the importance of constructive engagement and accurate comprehension of regional matters. He reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to peace, stability, dialogue, and cooperative efforts.
He concluded his remarks by commending the Dubai Press Club for fostering a solid platform for dialogue, enhancing Dubai's status as a media hub both regionally and globally.
