UAE Secures Major Acquisition of C-390 Aircraft for Air Force

UAE Secures Major Acquisition of C-390 Aircraft for Air Force

Post by : Badri Ariffin

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, presided over the significant defense agreement for the procurement of C-390 Millennium aircraft for the UAE Air Force.

This pivotal agreement was concluded at the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement stand during the Make it in the Emirates 2026 event.

The signing was executed by Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of Tawazun Council, alongside Bosco da Costa Jr., President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.

As part of the arrangement, Tawazun Council has contracted Brazil's Embraer for 10 C-390 Millennium aircraft, with the option for an additional 10 in the future. This initiative is set to bolster the airlift capabilities of the UAE’s military in partnership with a national defense entity.

Included in this agreement is the establishment of a comprehensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility within the UAE, as well as ongoing after-sales support for the aircraft.

The C-390 Millennium was selected by the UAE Air Force and Air Defense following a thorough assessment of its capabilities, which included rigorous testing under local operational conditions. Its selection reflects the aircraft's high performance, dependability, and cost-effectiveness.

Designed for versatile military transport, the C-390 Millennium can undertake various missions, such as cargo and troop movement, airdrops, humanitarian tasks, medical evacuations, and operations from unpaved runways, facilitating effective coordination with allied forces.

This transaction represents the largest single-country international order for the C-390 Millennium and marks its inaugural significant entry into the Middle Eastern market.

Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi remarked that this contract will notably enhance the military readiness of the UAE and its operational capabilities across diverse environments.

Bosco da Costa Jr. expressed pride in the strategic partnership, emphasizing that the C-390 will provide exceptional performance and long-term benefits for the UAE and Embraer.

Recognized for its modern design and operational agility, the C-390 Millennium is considered one of the most proficient military airlift aircraft in contemporary defense initiatives.
