UAE Unveils AI Agents to Revolutionize Government Services

UAE Unveils AI Agents to Revolutionize Government Services

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In a significant move towards modernizing government functions, the UAE has announced the integration of artificial intelligence into its operations, as highlighted during the national Agentic AI Retreat in Abu Dhabi, attended by His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Under the guidance of His Highness Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the retreat assembled over 400 ministers, senior officials, and media representatives to deliberate on the future of artificial intelligence in governance.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was joined by His Highness Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the event, the UAE Government unveiled strategic plans aimed at embedding Agentic AI models into its operations, with an ambitious goal to convert half of government services into AI-driven systems over the next two years, reinforcing the UAE’s status as a pioneer in artificial intelligence and digital governance.

In his address, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid emphasized the nation's vision of crafting a global benchmark for future governance models, utilizing technology to elevate the quality of public services and improve citizens’ lives.

Furthermore, the retreat celebrated the rollout of the UAE Government’s inaugural set of AI Agents. The initial phase features four specialized systems powered by Agentic AI:

  • Procurement AI Agent
  • Tax Auditing AI Agent
  • Customer Happiness AI Agent
  • Technical Support AI Agent

The Procurement AI Agent is intended to streamline sourcing processes and bolster operational efficiency across governmental bodies.

Meanwhile, the Tax Auditing AI Agent aims to refine tax assessment and data verification procedures, enhancing compliance and reducing audit durations.

The Customer Happiness AI Agent is designed to equip service teams with information swiftly, facilitating quicker and more effective public interaction.

Additionally, the Technical Support AI Agent will aid IT teams in swiftly addressing system challenges, promoting seamless digital governance.

The retreat also featured tailored workshops for government leaders to investigate the prospective integration of Agentic AI across various sectors. Moreover, the sixth cohort of the Federal Artificial Intelligence Programme celebrated its graduation during this gathering.

In a keynote address, His Excellency Sultan Al Jaber shed light on ADNOC's journey in AI transformation and announced ENERGYai, a platform aimed at connecting intelligent AI agents within the energy domain.

Al Jaber stated that ADNOC currently operates over 115 AI agents in critical departments such as HR, finance, procurement, and audit, with around 20,000 employees skilled in AI model development for daily tasks, resulting in more than 3,000 operational AI models.

His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama also contributed to the discussion, noting that Agentic AI is transforming governmental operations by enabling systems to autonomously think, plan, and execute tasks.

He remarked that nations that embrace AI at an early stage will secure a competitive advantage on the global stage, while those that hesitate risk technological stagnation.

The retreat also included insights from Luukas Ilves, who discussed how Agentic AI is reshaping global governance and underscored the necessity for redesigning government frameworks to lead in future technological advancements.
