The National Academy for Childhood Development is now accepting applications for its fourth cohort of the Accredited Vocational Diploma in Childhood Development. The window for registration is open from April 20 to May 4, 2026.
This program is part of the academy's commitment to fostering a skilled national workforce within the childhood development field. It aims to equip qualified experts who can nurture children's development using scientific methods and practical strategies.
Since its inception, the diploma has garnered significant attention, with over 22,500 applications received over three years. Only 304 candidates were admitted, reflecting the competitive nature of the selection process with an acceptance rate of just 1.35%.
Participation from UAE Nationals has increased, with 114 Emirati students currently enrolled, underlining a growing recognition of the significance of early childhood development in building a resilient society.
Endorsed by the National Qualifications Center, this 18-month diploma features a well-structured curriculum integrating academic studies with hands-on training. The program comprises 25 modules distributed across five phases, with 20 modules focused on academics and five on six months of practical fieldwork.
Key subject areas include child development theories, behavioral practices, protection and wellbeing, and engagement with families. Additionally, the curriculum highlights Emirati culture, national identity, and the Arabic language.
Students gain essential experience through field training placements at prominent institutions, such as the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge and the Family Care Authority. These placements enable students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts.
Conducted entirely in Arabic, the course aligns with the UAE’s mission to enhance the role of the Arabic language in both educational and professional settings.
Candidates selected for the program receive full scholarships, including a monthly stipend, allowing them to dedicate themselves fully to their academic and professional pursuits.
Applications can be submitted via the academy's official website or through the NAPO digital platform until May 4, 2026.
Recently, the academy celebrated the successful graduation of 191 students from its first and second cohorts, with many graduates already contributing to the childhood sector in both government and private settings.
The program serves as a key contributor to preparing proficient professionals and building collaborative ties that nurture the development of the childhood ecosystem within the UAE.
