UAE's National Guard Joins Global Law Enforcement Alliance

UAE's National Guard Joins Global Law Enforcement Alliance

Post by : Maya Rahman

In a significant move, the UAE National Guard has officially joined the International Association of Gendarmeries and Police Forces with Military Status, commonly referred to as FIEP. This momentous announcement was made during a summit held from October 20 to 23, 2025, in Paris, France, organized by the host nation. French Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nuñez, along with delegates from 22 countries, attended the summit to witness this landmark event.

Leading the UAE delegation was Major General Saleh Mohammed bin Megren Al Ameri, Commander of the National Guard, who engaged in high-stakes discussions and delivered a keynote address emphasizing the crucial importance of the National Guard in the UAE’s security landscape. He reaffirmed the institution's pivotal role in safeguarding the nation and its citizens.

During his speech, Major General Al Ameri highlighted the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing the continual push for building global alliances and enhancing collaboration in security and humanitarian fields. He articulated that the UAE’s membership in FIEP showcases the nation’s commitment to sharing knowledge, developing synchronized operations, and fostering mutual understanding with other countries that have similar security frameworks.

Moreover, Major General Al Ameri pointed out the vital humanitarian aspect of the National Guard's mission. He stressed the importance of their humanitarian efforts and recalled Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, a prominent relief project aimed at supporting individuals in the Gaza Strip, where the UAE played a significant role by providing 45% of the total international aid.

The reception of the UAE's new membership by other FIEP allies was overwhelmingly positive, with representatives from various nations expressing gratitude for the UAE’s proactive approach to peacekeeping, disaster response, and security collaborations. They recognized the UAE National Guard's rising stature as a dependable partner in confronting both regional and global challenges.

The UAE’s association with FIEP is anticipated to bolster collaborative efforts in tackling modern cross-border issues such as terrorism, organized crime, human trafficking, and illegal immigration. Major General Al Ameri stated that this integration will enable enhanced intelligence sharing, improved training protocols, and the establishment of cohesive strategies for sustaining peace and order across boundaries, reassuring that it would enhance both regional security and global trust.

Membership in FIEP underscores the UAE’s commitment to fortifying its international presence in defense and security matters. It signifies the trust other nations place in the UAE’s professional capabilities, effectiveness, and humanitarian principles. The UAE has cultivated a security approach that marries military preparedness with compassion and collaboration over the years. This latest membership further consolidates its role as a bridge among nations striving for collective peace and safety.

The accession of the UAE National Guard to FIEP marks a vital milestone and portrays the country’s global perspective. It embodies the UAE’s conviction that security collaboration and humanitarian action are interlinked. Through this alliance, the National Guard aspires to play a more proactive role in addressing shared global challenges and extending support to vulnerable communities. As Major General Al Ameri concluded, the UAE is committed to fostering a safer and more tranquil world, informed by its leadership’s vision of unity and cooperation.
