UAE Launches New FNC Session with Vision for the Future

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Abu Dhabi — Representing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, today presided over the inauguration of the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative term of the Federal National Council (FNC). This opening event was a pivotal occasion in the political calendar, showcasing the UAE's relentless progress in governance and development.

In attendance were His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, along with various Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, top officials, dignitaries, and members of the diplomatic community, highlighting the significance of this annual assembly.

The session commenced with the reading of Federal Decree No. (151) of 2025, issued by the President, officially convening the session. The ambiance was formal and concentrated, projecting an anticipation for another year of national progress.

FNC Speaker His Excellency Saqr Ghobash provided a comprehensive opening speech, underscoring that 2025 stands out as an exemplary year for the UAE. He emphasized the nation’s enhanced global competitiveness, economic robustness, security, innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and overall living standards. He indicated that the UAE's impressive standing in global soft power signifies its growing influence abroad.

Ghobash also acknowledged the declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community and 2026 as the Year of the Family — initiatives that highlight the UAE’s commitment to social values, unity, and national duties. He noted that the federal budget approved for 2026 is the largest in the nation’s history, a clear indicator of strong economic optimism and ongoing developmental goals.

He reiterated the UAE's steadfast dedication to humanitarian and regional issues, including continued support for the Palestinian populace and efforts fostering dialogue, coexistence, and peace.

As the session unfolds, the FNC will continue its constitutional role, aligned with the leadership’s long-term vision for a forward-thinking nation.
