The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation has unveiled its plans for the national tent-pegging team as they prepare to qualify for the upcoming 2026 Tent-Pegging World Cup. Scheduled to occur in Cairo, Egypt, from December 7th to 13th, the UAE team is laying the groundwork to achieve peak performance ahead of the travel date.
According to the official draw, the UAE team finds itself in a challenging Group 4 alongside Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen, Australia, Libya, and Canada. Each of these competitors brings a wealth of experience to the tent-pegging arena, which sets the stage for a fierce competition. Nonetheless, the UAE remains optimistic and self-assured.
Currently, the team is entrenched in an intensive training camp in Abu Dhabi. Here, the riders are actively participating in several local competitions within both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. These events are critical for honing their skills, boosting accuracy, and ensuring readiness for the qualifiers. Emphasis is also placed on fostering teamwork, focus, and communication between the riders and their horses, all crucial elements in tent-pegging.
The team is scheduled to head to Cairo at the start of next month. Upon arrival, they will finalize preparations leading up to the qualifiers, which includes horse health assessments, reviewing the competition arena conditions, attending pertinent meetings, and confirming draw protocols. These actions are vital to eliminate any last-minute complications and to ensure a well-organized effort before the competition kicks off.
Dr. Ghanem Mohammed Al Hajri, Secretary-General of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, expressed immense confidence in the UAE team. He highlighted the goal of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup as a pivotal aim for the federation, asserting that the riders possess the necessary skills, strength, and determination for success.
