UAE University Achieves Top UAE Rank and 55th in Asia for 2026

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has marked a significant academic achievement by being ranked first in the UAE, third in the GCC, and 55th in Asia according to the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026.

This accolade underscores UAEU's pivotal role as a premier national institution that fosters excellence in higher education, as well as in research and innovation.

Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to the UAE President and Chancellor of UAEU, noted that this milestone illustrates the university’s historic commitment since its inception as the UAE's first comprehensive national university. He stressed the institution's dedication to developing human capital and promoting knowledge.

He further highlighted that being the leading university in the UAE and making strides among Asia’s top educational institutions is a testament to UAEU’s focus on academic distinction, innovation, and research. This success echoes the UAE leadership’s vision of prioritizing people and education.

As it celebrates its Golden Jubilee, UAEU reflects on its achievements while aspiring towards a more influential future. The university aims to continue being a knowledge hub and a vital contributor to sustainable development both locally and on a global scale.

Ahmed Ali Al Raeesi, Vice Chancellor of UAEU, remarked that this accomplishment signifies the university’s relentless efforts to enhance its academic and research frameworks. He pointed out the commitment to raising educational standards and further establishing UAEU as a global research university.

He also mentioned that UAEU plays a crucial role in cultivating skilled professionals equipped to guide the future and advance the UAE’s knowledge-based economy and sustainable development.

The 2026 THE Asia University Rankings assess 18 performance indicators across five critical areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry income.

This ranking fortifies UAEU’s dedication to top-notch education, innovation, and community engagement, while enhancing its role in the UAE’s vision of becoming a worldwide leader in education, research, and sustainable development.
