This Saturday’s showdown features two unbeaten talents, with Aryna Sabalenka, the 2022 finalist, holding a narrow 8-5 advantage over Elena Rybakina from their previous battles, including a historic match at the Australian Open final two years prior.
Entering her ninth final of the season, Sabalenka regards the upcoming duel as “another powerful match,” expressing confidence following her hard-fought semi-final victory over Amanda Anisimova. Sabalenka dominated the first set with intensity and showcased her resilience during the tense moments of the deciding set to secure the win. “We played an incredible match, and both deserved this place in the final,” she remarked, commending Anisimova’s season.
Earlier in the day, Rybakina came back from an initial setback to triumph over Jessica Pegula with scores of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, maintaining her flawless record at the King Saud University Sports Arena. Although a shoulder concern hindered her precision early on, Rybakina relied on timely aces and focus during critical game moments to pivot the match in her favor. Pegula, having won the first set, fought valiantly but Rybakina clinched commanding moments in the decisive stages to emerge victorious.
The final promises to deliver a high-energy face-off between these two formidable competitors, both undefeated in the tournament and poised to battle for the coveted title.
