US Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Video Call With Minor

US Teacher Arrested for Inappropriate Video Call With Minor

Post by : Rameen Ariff

A substitute teacher in the United States, Krystal Sims, 30, has been arrested after being accused of inappropriate electronic communication with a minor. Officials say Sims allegedly exposed herself to a student during a video call while in the shower.

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office began the investigation after learning that Sims had contacted a male minor online, reportedly to arrange a meeting in Cave City. According to a citation obtained by WCLU Radio, the student recorded part of a conversation on August 22, which later transitioned into a video call in which Sims allegedly appeared nude.

The student stated that several people in the room at the time also saw Sims during the video call. In an interrogation in early October, Sims admitted that her voice was on the call but denied meeting the student in person. She claimed the call was meant for the student to apologize for classroom behavior.

Authorities say there was no physical contact between Sims and the student, and the teacher noted that multiple male students had attempted to connect with her online, but she rejected their requests.

Sims was taken into custody at the Barren County Detention Centre on October 2 and released on a $25,000 bond on October 6. She faces charges of “using electronic communication to solicit, procure or promote sexual activity with a minor,” a felony that could have serious legal consequences. Her court appearance is scheduled for October 8.

The school district where Sims worked has not yet commented on the case, and her attorney has not released a statement.
