Vietnam-China Border Festival 2026 Begins

Vietnam-China Border Festival 2026 Begins

Post by : Shakul

Vietnam and China took another step toward strengthening bilateral ties as To Lam attended the grand opening of the Vietnam-China Border People's Festival 2026 in Nanning city, Guangxi. The event was held as part of his official state visit to China, bringing together leaders, officials, youth, and residents from both countries in a celebration of friendship and cooperation.

The festival, organized jointly by friendship organizations from both nations and supported by the Guangxi regional government, serves as a platform to deepen people-to-people connections. It reflects a broader vision of building a strong social foundation that supports long-term cooperation and shared development between Vietnam and China in the 21st century.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese leader Tran Cuong highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations, emphasizing how border communities have historically lived in harmony and supported each other. He noted that Guangxi, being the only Chinese region bordering Vietnam both by land and sea, plays a crucial role in maintaining and expanding this relationship through local cooperation and mutual support initiatives.

In his address, President To Lam underscored the historical significance of Guangxi as a place that holds many shared memories of the revolutionary struggles of both countries. He referred to important historical sites associated with Ho Chi Minh, where Vietnamese revolutionaries once lived, studied, and received support from Chinese communities. These locations, he said, symbolize the enduring solidarity and shared sacrifices that form the backbone of Vietnam-China relations.

The Vietnamese leader also expressed deep gratitude to China for preserving historical sites connected to Vietnam’s revolutionary past. He stressed that over decades, especially since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1950, the relationship between the two countries has evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership guided by principles of friendship, stability, and forward-looking cooperation.

Highlighting the importance of future collaboration, To Lam emphasized the role of youth and border communities in strengthening bilateral relations. He called for expanding exchanges, enhancing cultural and educational cooperation, and promoting innovation-driven growth through science, technology, and digital transformation. He also encouraged both sides to go beyond traditional cooperation methods and explore new opportunities in areas such as smart infrastructure and cultural industries.

The event concluded with a strong message of unity and shared vision, with both nations reaffirming their commitment to building a “community with a shared future.” Leaders expressed confidence that continued cooperation, rooted in historical friendship and strengthened by modern initiatives, will contribute to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
