Vietnam has reinforced its ambition to become one of Asia-Pacific’s leading destinations for global technology investment during the Vietnam Innovation Investment Forum 2026 held in Ho Chi Minh City. Senior government leaders, international investors, technology companies, and financial organizations gathered at the high-level forum to discuss the future of innovation, digital transformation, and private capital investment in Vietnam.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang said Vietnam is entering a new era driven by science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Speaking at the forum, he stated that the country possesses major advantages including political stability, a fast-growing economy, a young digitally skilled workforce, and one of the world’s broadest networks of free trade agreements.
The forum was organized by the National Innovation Center under the Ministry of Finance together with the Vietnam Private Capital Investment Development Organization and Do Ventures. More than 1,000 delegates from Vietnam and abroad attended the event, reflecting growing international confidence in Vietnam’s economic potential and technology ecosystem.
Government officials highlighted that Vietnam’s economy has now reached nearly 500 billion dollars in size and continues to attract strong investment into strategic industries such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, fintech, green technology, cloud computing, and digital infrastructure. Authorities believe these sectors will become the main engines of long-term national growth.
The Ministry of Finance also announced continued reforms aimed at modernizing Vietnam’s capital markets and improving transparency to align with international standards. Officials said the government is working on stronger support mechanisms for venture capital funds, innovation financing, and public-private partnerships to attract sustainable long-term investment into high-tech industries.
One of the key highlights of the summit was the release of the Vietnam Technology and Innovation Investment Report 2026 along with the Vietnam Capital Flow Index. The reports provide detailed insights into investment trends, startup growth, venture capital activities, and international capital movement within Vietnam’s rapidly developing innovation market.
Discussions during the forum focused heavily on creating a stronger innovation ecosystem through the use of artificial intelligence, digital finance, and advanced technologies. Experts from investment funds and financial institutions discussed strategies for improving access to capital for technology startups while supporting large-scale innovation projects.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang emphasized that Vietnam no longer aims to be viewed only as a manufacturing destination but instead as a long-term innovation and technology development partner in the global supply chain. He added that Vietnam is committed to attracting not only financial capital but also advanced technology, global talent, research expertise, and modern management models.
Vietnamese authorities also reaffirmed plans to build an international financial center in Ho Chi Minh City designed to connect global capital flows with the country’s growing innovation ecosystem. Leaders believe the project could strengthen Vietnam’s role as a regional financial and technology hub in the coming years.
Officials concluded the summit by stressing that Vietnam will continue improving its investment climate, protecting investor rights, accelerating digital transformation, and strengthening intellectual property regulations in order to remain an attractive and competitive destination for global technology investment.
