Vietnam is focusing on accelerating economic growth as Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a high level meeting with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to review progress and outline key priorities for 2026. The meeting was held at the government headquarters in Hanoi.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the industry and trade sector plays a central role in achieving the country’s economic targets, particularly the goal of double digit growth. He stated that the performance and efficiency of this sector will directly influence the overall development of the national economy.
During the session, officials highlighted progress made in strengthening institutional frameworks, improving state management, and advancing key areas such as industrial production, energy development, and domestic and international trade. These sectors have been identified as major drivers of economic expansion.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the challenges faced by the sector, including global economic uncertainties, trade barriers, geopolitical tensions, and internal limitations in production capacity. He stressed the need for proactive measures to overcome these obstacles and maintain stable growth.
He instructed the ministry to ensure energy security and prevent shortages of electricity and fuel under any circumstances. Accelerating major power projects, updating national energy plans, and improving coordination between agencies were identified as critical priorities.
The government also aims to strengthen industrial supply chains, enhance domestic production capabilities, and promote deeper integration into global markets. Efforts will be made to expand export opportunities, improve trade efficiency, and maximize the benefits of existing and future trade agreements.
In addition, the Prime Minister called for administrative reforms, digital transformation, and modernization of the domestic distribution system to boost consumption and improve governance. He emphasized the importance of building a capable workforce and ensuring accountability within the ministry.
The meeting concluded with a strong message that the industry and trade sector must take the lead in driving economic progress, resolving existing challenges, and ensuring sustainable and high quality growth for the country in the coming years.
