Controversy Erupts as Indian Woman's Voting Photos Go Viral

Controversy Erupts as Indian Woman's Voting Photos Go Viral

Post by : Meena Ariff

In the wake of a viral voter fraud accusation involving a Brazilian woman, a new controversy has surfaced surrounding an Indian woman's posts. Urrmi, who is known on her X account, shared images featuring her with an inked finger, asserting she had voted in two different elections across two states.

Two Posts, Different Elections

The first post, dated May 13, 2024, depicts her voting in Pune during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, captioned: “Go Vote, Pune! I voted for development, clean governance, and a Modi-fied India!”

The second post, dated November 6, 2025, states: “Voted for a Modi-fied India! Jaai ke Vote daali, Bihar!”

This led to discussions online, with some political figures circulating the posts to support claims of electoral fraud. Social media users speculated that the second post was made in jest.

Urrmi's Clarification

Following the virality of her November 6 post, Urrmi clarified that she had not actually voted on that day in Bihar. She explained: “This was just meant to inspire. I never claimed to vote today — I said I voted. Everyone knows that occurred in Maharashtra. So please relax! Got inspired? Now it’s your turn, Bihar. Go vote!!”

Allegations from AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party has leveled accusations against BJP leaders for voting in both Delhi and Bihar elections. BJP leaders Rakesh Sinha, Santosh Ojha, and Nagendra Kumar were mentioned. Sinha clarified that he had lawfully moved his voter registration from Delhi to Bihar, dismissing the claims as “unfounded and ethically questionable.”

Brazilian Model Incident

Previously, an image of Larissa Nery, a Brazilian model, circulated that claimed she voted 22 times in Haryana under various identities. Nery stated that the image was old, taken when she was 20 years old, expressing surprise at being referenced as an Indian voter.

These events underscore the heightened scrutiny surrounding India's electoral integrity and the significant role social media plays in magnifying voter fraud allegations, whether they are legitimate or intended humor.
