Jim Bankoff Discusses Significance of BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi

Jim Bankoff Discusses Significance of BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi

Post by : Maya Rahman

Jim Bankoff, Co-founder, Chair and CEO of Vox Media, emphasized that the BRIDGE Summit serves a crucial role in uniting individuals to share knowledge and collaborate in finding solutions. He indicated that genuine progress is achieved through personal interaction; when people listen and appreciate diverse opinions, they can contribute effectively. He views the Summit as a unique opportunity for candid dialogue and collective learning.

In an interview with WAM during the inaugural BRIDGE Summit 2025 at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, Bankoff reflected on this being his first trip to the UAE, stating that he might not have visited if it weren't for the Summit and the chance to discuss his experiences in the media world. He expressed gratitude for the concept behind BRIDGE and the platform it establishes for international collaboration.

Discussing current challenges in the media sector, Bankoff noted that numerous factors are at play due to the rapid pace of change globally. He remarked that as society evolves, the media must adapt accordingly. He highlighted emerging technologies, particularly AI, the burgeoning creator economy, and shifts in governance and economics as forces reshaping the industry. Media organizations, he argued, need to grasp these changes, understand audience preferences, and balance business considerations to thrive.

He described AI as both a challenge and an opportunity, emphasizing the current focus on empowering skilled teams, effectively harnessing technology, and driving substantial business growth. Bankoff pointed out that discussions at the Summit represent a diverse and global spectrum, with insights flowing not only from America, but also from the Gulf, Asia, Africa, and Europe. He found it inspiring to witness such a rich array of perspectives come together.

Bankoff lauded the UAE's openness and dedication to learning, noting the country’s proactive investments in innovation and its inclusive approach to welcoming global talent and fostering knowledge exchange. He concluded that, based on his observations, the UAE is progressing positively towards a brighter future for the media sector.
