Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, the much-anticipated sequel in the YRF spy universe, was released in theatres on 14 August 2025. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, and marks the Bollywood debut of Jr NTR. Despite its star-studded cast and high expectations, the movie received lukewarm reviews from critics and audiences, as it failed to match the hype surrounding the original 2019 War film.
For viewers who missed watching War 2 in cinemas, the film is now available to stream on Netflix from 9 October 2025. It will be available in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil languages, catering to a wider audience across India and internationally. Netflix India shared the announcement on its social media channels with the message, “Double the rage. Double the rampage. Ready for the War? Watch War 2, out 9 October on Netflix.” Fans reacted with a mix of excitement, curiosity, and humor, showing their anticipation for the spy action drama.
Earlier this month, Hrithik Roshan shared his personal reflections about War 2 on Instagram. Posting images of his character Kabir, he revealed the challenges he faced while portraying the role. Hrithik explained that although the project seemed perfect at the start, he had to constantly balance the demands of action, performance, and storytelling to maintain the film’s high standards.
War 2 continues the story from Siddharth Anand’s 2019 War, where Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff played the lead roles. In the sequel, Hrithik reprised his iconic role as Kabir, while Jr NTR joined as Vikram and Kiara Advani played Kavya, introducing new dynamics into the YRF spy universe. The film also features a post-credits scene teasing the next installment, titled Alpha, which will star Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and Bobby Deol, ensuring the continuity of the spy franchise.
At the box office, War 2 collected ₹364.25 crore worldwide, which is a respectable number but still falls short of the ₹471 crore lifetime collection of the first War film. Despite not breaking box office records, the film’s digital release offers fans a chance to watch the full action-packed spy drama from the comfort of their homes.
OTT Streaming Details:
With high-octane action sequences, a mix of veteran and new actors, and the continuation of the YRF spy universe storyline, War 2 remains a must-watch for fans of action thrillers. The Netflix release also ensures that audiences who missed the theatrical release can experience the movie without delay.
