Yas Marina Circuit has invested significantly in an upgrade to its race control room in preparation for the 2025 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. This revamped facility is designed to enhance response times, ensure safety, and provide comfort for a team of 28 officials.
The sophisticated upgrade incorporates a digital network that enables immediate access to 55 camera feeds, timing systems, race data, and broadcast streams through tablet controls, reducing reliance on additional equipment and improving integration with visiting championships.
Features like enhanced ergonomics, adjustable LED lighting, and purpose-built desks foster concentration and clarity during critical operational moments. Stuart Latham, Yas Marina’s Safety and Operations Director, highlighted that the facility meets FIA standards and stands out as one of the most technologically advanced race control centers globally.
This new control room was put to the test during the Yas Racing Series (October 31 – November 2) and will cater to the 2025/2026 motorsport season, encompassing events like the Formula 4 Middle East, Asian Le Mans Series, Lenovo Gulf 12 Hours, and the Autonomous Racing Series. The much-anticipated 2025 Abu Dhabi GP is scheduled for December 5–7.
