YouTube has officially introduced its new Premium Lite plan in India, offering ad-free viewing at a much more affordable price. Priced at Rs 89 per month, the Premium Lite subscription is designed to make ad-free YouTube more accessible to Indian viewers.
According to YouTube, the plan allows users to enjoy ad-free videos across most categories, including gaming, fashion, beauty, news, and entertainment. However, there are some limitations compared to the standard Premium plan.
The Premium Lite plan does not include YouTube Music, offline downloads, or background playback, and ads will still appear on YouTube Shorts, searches, and browsing. Despite these restrictions, the Lite version gives viewers a cheaper option for uninterrupted video watching across smartphones, laptops, and smart TVs.
YouTube announced that the rollout of the Premium Lite plan in India will be completed in the coming weeks. This move comes as YouTube Music and Premium services now have more than 125 million global subscribers.
Premium Lite: Rs 89/month – ad-free videos (excluding Shorts & music).
YouTube Premium: Rs 149/month – ad-free videos + YouTube Music, offline downloads, and background play.
With the new plan, YouTube aims to give Indian users flexible subscription options, catering to different preferences and budgets.
