Post by : Meena Ariff

Zarine Khan, cherished wife of veteran star Sanjay Khan and mother to designer Sussanne Khan, peacefully passed away this morning at her home in Mumbai. She was 81 years old and had been struggling with age-related ailments for a period of time.

Zarine is survived by her husband Sanjay and their children Sussanne Khan, Simone Arora, Farah Ali Khan, and Zayed Khan. She was known for her kindness and grace, serving as a cornerstone for her family and playing a pivotal role in nurturing her children’s lives.

The love story of Sanjay and Zarine is fondly remembered, having first crossed paths at a bus stop, which led to their marriage in 1966. Zarine also graced the film industry, appearing in iconic films like Tere Ghar Ke Saamne and Ek Phool Do Mali.

This year, Sussanne celebrated her mother's 81st birthday with a heartfelt video on Instagram highlighting treasured family moments. In her touching message, she reflected:
"Mama Mia. My My.. what an amazing Mama you are. All that I do and all that I create in my life have to do with the way you formed my heart, my mind and my grit… I am so honoured and grateful to be your little girl. May the Universe always protect you and keep continuing to spread that Love and the smiles you do… Have the most spectacular year!"

Notably, Sussanne Khan, an esteemed interior designer, was previously married to Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. The couple tied the knot in 2000 after a four-year relationship and divorced in 2014, continuing to co-parent their sons, Hrehaan and Hridaan.

Zarine Khan will be remembered for her contributions to cinema as well as her role as a devoted mother and guiding light in her family. Her enduring warmth, compassion, and resilience have left an indelible mark on both her loved ones and all who knew her.
