7 Winter Beverages to Stay Hydrated and Healthy, According to a Nutrition Expert

7 Winter Beverages to Stay Hydrated and Healthy, According to a Nutrition Expert

Post by : Saif Rahman

During winter, many people neglect their water intake. The cold weather diminishes thirst, causing individuals to spend much time under blankets. This often results in unrecognized low hydration, leading to fatigue and dryness. To combat these issues, incorporating healthy herbal drinks into your routine can help. While these drinks should not replace water, they can boost energy, immunity, and warmth throughout winter. Nutritionist Rashmeet Kaur Gupta notes that these beverages are particularly effective when pollution levels soar in numerous Indian cities. Although no drink can entirely cleanse the lungs, warm and nutrient-rich drinks can reduce irritation and elevate overall wellness. They can also assist with digestion, bolster immunity, and refresh the body.

One drink she recommends is fenugreek seed water. Methi seeds contain natural compounds that aid in mucus reduction and facilitate easier breathing. They also promote digestion thanks to their soluble fiber that retains moisture. To prepare this drink, soak methi seeds in water overnight and consume the following morning. Another beneficial option is mulethi tea, famous for its throat-soothing properties. Mulethi possesses a natural ingredient that alleviates inflammation and calms coughs triggered by pollution. Simply boil small sticks of mulethi in water for a few minutes to make this tea.

An amla and turmeric shot can serve as an excellent morning tonic. Amla is packed with vitamin C and antioxidants, while turmeric combats inflammation caused by pollution or seasonal allergens. Combine amla juice with turmeric, black pepper, and warm water for an easy, effective drink. A tulsi and cinnamon infusion is also a great choice, as tulsi promotes respiratory health and cinnamon aids in blood sugar management. When boiled together, they create a warming beverage that comforts the throat and chest.

Lemon ginger water is another excellent drink for boosting immunity and enhancing respiratory ease. Lemon is rich in vitamin C, while ginger alleviates congestion. Adding rock salt helps replenish electrolytes, improving hydration. Cumin-coriander-fennel tea is also soothing, supporting digestion and reducing bloating. Simply boil these three seeds in water and enjoy warm to make your stomach feel lighter, particularly in winter when meals are denser.

Don’t forget about electrolyte drinks, as plain water may not suffice for optimal hydration. Effervescent electrolyte tablets dissolve effortlessly in water, aiding in mineral absorption. These minerals are critical for maintaining energy levels and preventing dehydration. The nutritionist recommends considering personal health conditions before trying any of these remedies, as some drinks may not be appropriate for certain individuals. Pregnant women should consult a healthcare provider prior to incorporating these beverages into their diets.

In conclusion, these straightforward winter drinks made from readily available Indian ingredients can help ensure good health during chilly, polluted days. They are simple to prepare, soothing to drink, and crucial for staying hydrated, resilient, and vibrant throughout the winter season.
