Alakh Pandey Wealth Hits Rs 14,510 Cr, Surpasses Shah Rukh Khan

Alakh Pandey Wealth Hits Rs 14,510 Cr, Surpasses Shah Rukh Khan

Post by : Rameen Ariff

In a remarkable financial feat, Alakh Pandey, the founder of the edtech company PhysicsWallah, has overtaken Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in terms of net worth. According to the Hurun India Rich List 2025, Pandey’s wealth skyrocketed by 223% this year, reaching Rs 14,510 crore, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan, whose net worth rose to Rs 12,490 crore ($1.4 billion).

PhysicsWallah's Impressive Growth

PhysicsWallah has seen significant growth in both revenue and profitability. The company reduced its net losses drastically to Rs 243 crore in FY25 from Rs 1,131 crore the previous year. Meanwhile, revenue jumped to Rs 2,886 crore from Rs 1,940 crore, highlighting the edtech unicorn’s strong market presence and rapid expansion.

Shah Rukh Khan Joins the Billionaire Club

While Alakh Pandey leads in wealth this year, Shah Rukh Khan also achieved a milestone by entering the billionaire club for the first time. His 71% wealth increase is largely attributed to the success of Red Chillies Entertainment, co-owned with his wife Gauri Khan, which posted a net profit of Rs 85 crore in FY23. In addition, his blockbuster film Jawan contributed significantly, grossing Rs 640.25 crore domestically and Rs 1,160 crore worldwide.

PhysicsWallah Plans IPO

PhysicsWallah is moving ahead with its plans for a major initial public offering (IPO) of Rs 3,820 crore. The IPO includes a fresh issue of Rs 3,100 crore and an offer-for-sale (OFS) of Rs 720 crore. Promoters Alakh Pandey and Prateek Maheshwari plan to sell shares worth Rs 360 crore through the OFS. Major banks like Kotak Mahindra Capital, Goldman Sachs India, JP Morgan India, and Axis Capital have been appointed to manage the offering.

From YouTube Educator to Edtech Unicorn Founder

Alakh Pandey began his journey as a YouTube educator in 2016 after leaving Harcourt Butler Technical University. From creating educational content online, he has transformed into one of India’s fastest-growing entrepreneurs. His journey highlights the power of innovation, perseverance, and talent in today’s knowledge-driven economy.

Pandey’s rise has inspired many aspiring entrepreneurs and students, demonstrating how digital education and a strong vision can lead to unprecedented success.

Alakh Pandey’s achievement signals a new era where education-driven businesses are competing with entertainment giants in wealth creation. With PhysicsWallah’s IPO on the horizon, the edtech sector continues to show immense potential, making Pandey a prominent figure in India’s business landscape.
