Exciting news in the crypto realm as Coinbase brings forth Monad, a pioneering platform designed for retail investors. This initiative allows users to take part in digital token sales even before they become available on major exchanges—potentially transforming the way everyday investors access early-stage tokens.
Monad is set to host approximately one token sale each month. During a designated one-week period, investors can place their purchase requests. An algorithm will then manage the allocation process, striving for an equitable distribution among all participants.
To qualify, investors must be fully registered, in compliance, and uphold Coinbase’s regulatory standards. Transactions will utilize USD Coin (USDC), which is pegged to the US dollar. Each token project will be rigorously assessed based on criteria such as market interest, team's experience, tokenomics, and vesting schedules.
This marks a significant shift for Coinbase, which traditionally relies on trading fees as its primary income. By moving into primary token issuance, the exchange aims to gain better control over its ecosystem and create additional revenue opportunities.
The inaugural token offering under Monad hails from a startup named Monad, launching next week. With its structured and algorithm-driven approach, Coinbase's platform could diminish risks while reopening doors for retail investors to engage in early token opportunities.
