Dashoguz Rice Farmers Target Strong Harvest in 2026

Dashoguz Rice Farmers Target Strong Harvest in 2026

Post by : Shakul

Rice farmers in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz velayat are preparing for another productive agricultural season as thousands of hectares have been dedicated to rice cultivation across the region. Local producers are aiming to achieve a strong harvest and contribute significantly to the country’s food security and agricultural output in 2026.

The Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy etrap continues to serve as the leading center of rice production in the velayat. Farmers in the area have maintained a long tradition of cultivating high-quality rice and have built extensive expertise in managing large-scale paddy fields under local climatic conditions.

This year, the specialized daikhan association “S.A. Nyýazow” has allocated approximately 4,300 hectares for rice cultivation. Another major producer, the “27 Oktyabr” daikhan association, has dedicated 3,000 hectares to the crop. Together, these agricultural enterprises represent the backbone of the region’s rice industry and are expected to play a key role in meeting production targets.

Private sector participation is also expanding. The “Ykbal açary” Economic Society has allocated 800 hectares for rice farming this season, highlighting the growing involvement of private agricultural businesses in the development of the country’s food production sector. Officials believe this cooperation between state-supported and private producers will strengthen overall agricultural performance.

Farmers have once again selected the Nöküs-2 rice variety as the primary crop for cultivation. The variety has been grown successfully in the region for many years and is highly valued for its adaptability to local weather conditions. It is also known for producing strong yields, demonstrating resistance to diseases and offering excellent grain quality and taste.

The region’s agricultural success is supported by modern farming equipment and years of accumulated expertise. Access to specialized machinery enables producers to carry out planting, irrigation and harvesting activities efficiently, helping to improve productivity and reduce operational challenges during the growing season.

An important factor supporting the rice industry is the presence of a modern rice processing facility located near the cultivation areas. The enterprise allows harvested grain to be cleaned, processed and prepared for market quickly and efficiently. With favorable conditions, experienced farmers and strong infrastructure, Dashoguz rice growers are optimistic about achieving another abundant harvest and making a valuable contribution to Turkmenistan’s agricultural economy.
