Abidur Chowdhury Exits Apple to Embrace AI Startup Opportunities

Abidur Chowdhury Exits Apple to Embrace AI Startup Opportunities

Post by : Badri Ariffin

San Francisco – Abidur Chowdhury, who has become a prominent figure in Apple’s design landscape as the creator behind the iPhone Air launch video, is leaving the tech giant to join a burgeoning artificial intelligence startup, as per sources acquainted with the situation. His unexpected exit seems to have taken colleagues by surprise, highlighting his significant influence within Apple’s design team.

Chowdhury earned his Bachelor’s degree in Product Design and Technology from Loughborough University and has been active in industrial design since 2015. After experience gained through internships at Cambridge Consultants and Curventa, he joined Layer Design in 2017. Following a year of freelancing, he became part of Apple’s team as an Industrial Designer in January 2019.

Throughout his time at Apple, he was instrumental in shaping the iPhone Air, contributing to both its design and marketing strategies. Notably, he appeared in Apple’s official launch video in September 2025, a privilege granted to key players within the company.

Insiders report that his departure isn’t associated with the iPhone Air launch, as Apple has plans for a second-generation model due in 2027. Though his LinkedIn profile remains unchanged, sources suggest that Chowdhury’s move to the AI field aligns closely with his passion for cutting-edge technology.

Experts in the industry observe that transitions like Chowdhury’s might indicate a growing trend of tech designers migrating towards AI startups, merging innovative design with advanced technology development.
