The beloved Bollywood actor Dharmendra has sadly passed away at the age of 89 on Monday, 24 November. He was at home after a brief recovery from health issues earlier this month. Dharmendra leaves behind his two wives, Prakash Kaur and actress Hema Malini, as well as six children, including notable actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.
Tributes have been flooding in from the Bollywood community. Filmmaker Karan Johar, who collaborated with him on Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani, referred to him as a “legend of Indian cinema” and remarked on Dharmendra's boundless love and positivity. He noted that the warmth and blessings from Dharmendra will be profoundly missed.
Actors Kareena Kapoor and Kiara Advani shared nostalgic photos and emotional messages through Instagram. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar described his passing as “the end of an era” and praised his dynamic personality and sense of humor.
Among Dharmendra’s celebrated films are Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Chupke Chupke, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, and Yaadon Ki Baraat. In the later stages of his career, he adeptly shifted to character roles in movies like Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Johnny Gaddaar, and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani.
His final film, Ikkis, is scheduled for release next month.
Conclusion: Bollywood grieves the loss of its He-Man. Dharmendra’s contributions to film will remain forever cherished.
