Dubai Basketball wins 92-58 vs Split String ABA League season start

Dubai Basketball wins 92-58 vs Split String ABA League season start

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Dubai Basketball kicked off their ABA League 2025 campaign with a commanding 92–58 victory against Croatian side Split at the Coca-Cola Arena on Monday evening.

Head Coach Jurica Golemac’s team displayed impressive depth, athleticism, and offensive balance, signaling strong form for the season ahead. While Split initially kept pace, led by former Dubai player Leon Radošević, Dubai quickly took control.

The second quarter saw Dubai pull away decisively, with defensive intensity and strategic rotations keeping the Croatian team at bay. By halftime, Dubai had built a double-digit lead that they maintained throughout the match. Key defensive plays by Filip Petrušev, combined with offensive contributions from Dwayne Bacon and Klemen Prepelič, helped secure a strong first-half performance.

The third quarter featured fast-paced exchanges, but Dubai’s deeper bench ensured the team maintained control as Split’s energy waned. The hosts dominated the fourth quarter 35–15, completing a comprehensive 34-point victory.

Dwayne Bacon stood out with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Coach Golemac praised his team’s performance: "We controlled the game for all 40 minutes. Our quality showed, and the team took this game seriously. I wish Split all the best for the rest of the season."

Player Awudu Abass highlighted the team’s focus and energy: "Everyone contributed tonight. After two games last week, we stayed focused and supported each other, which made the difference."

Dubai Basketball will return to the Coca-Cola Arena on October 16 for Round 4 of the EuroLeague, hosting Spanish giants FC Barcelona for their first-ever match in the UAE. Fans can book tickets through the arena’s official website.
