The esteemed Bollywood actor Dharmendra, aged 89, is reported to be on the mend and responding positively to his medical treatment, as indicated by his family and representatives. This announcement follows a wave of erroneous speculations regarding the actor’s passing that sparked concern among his fans and the film industry.
On Tuesday, a declaration from Dharmendra’s son, Sunny Deol, reassured the public that the iconic star is “recovering and responding to treatment.” The statement emphasized the importance of prayers for Dharmendra’s good health and longevity. This update marks the third clarification from the family in a short time, aiming to dispel misinformation.
Earlier, Esha Deol, Dharmendra’s daughter, shared an Instagram post confirming that her father is “stable and recovering,” while his second wife, Hema Malini, vehemently denounced the false reports circulating about his health. Malini reiterated on her social platform that Dharmendra is “responding to treatment and recovering,” denouncing the unfounded rumors as “false news.”
The family has consistently requested privacy and discouraged the dissemination of unverified information concerning Dharmendra’s health. On Monday night, Sunny Deol appealed to fans and the media to refrain from engaging in rumors, stating that further updates will only be shared as they come. He asked everyone to respect the family’s boundaries and keep the actor in their prayers for a swift recovery.
Since late October, Dharmendra has been under treatment at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, with his hospitalization first reported on October 31. The beloved actor, known for his remarkable performances in iconic films such as Sholay, Phool Aur Patthar, Satyakam, and Dharam Veer, is set to celebrate his 90th birthday on December 8.
On Tuesday morning, both Sunny Deol and Hema Malini visited Dharmendra at the hospital. The previous night saw a number of prominent figures from the film industry, including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Govinda, paying visits to convey their support and well wishes.
Fans can anticipate Dharmendra's appearance in the forthcoming war drama Ikkis, slated for release on December 25. Despite the recent health concerns, the actor’s legacy continues to resonate with cinema enthusiasts across generations.
