Firdaus Women's Orchestra to Perform at Expo City Dubai

Firdaus Women's Orchestra to Perform at Expo City Dubai

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Marking the National Month campaign and the 54th Eid Al Etihad, a unique musical event is set for Tuesday, December 2, featuring the Firdaus Women’s Orchestra at the House of Arts in Expo City Dubai. This occasion, organized by Brand Dubai along with Expo City Dubai, promises to be a memorable celebration.

Under the direction of celebrated Lebanese maestro Harout Fazlian, the orchestra will showcase a piece entitled Zayed and Rashid, which draws from selected lines of “The People and the Leader,” a poem penned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. This performance aims to honor the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, recognizing their instrumental roles in the formation of the UAE. Additional compositions will delve into the rich musical traditions of the Emirates.

According to Brand Dubai, this performance embodies the core values of unity and advancement that have shaped the nation, while also celebrating developments such as Expo City Dubai—a manifestation of the country's vision and prowess in transforming concepts into reality. This collaboration is part of broader National Month initiatives designed to bolster national pride and appreciation towards the founding fathers.

The choice of the House of Arts as the venue underscores its evolution into a hub of Emirati creativity. This multidisciplinary space fosters music, performing arts, culinary legacies, and various forms of cultural expression rooted in the UAE and the Gulf region. Its programs narrate the story of the nation from its formative seven Emirates to its current advancements.

The Firdaus Women’s Orchestra, which garnered acclaim during Expo 2020 Dubai, will bring its members together for this significant performance. Their reunion continues to strengthen the ensemble’s bond with the UAE's cultural scene, blending talent, tradition, and national spirit in an evening dedicated to honoring the nation’s rich narrative.

Previously, Brand Dubai launched the song Zayed and Rashid as part of the #ZayedAndRashid initiative. This performance perpetuates that tribute, reflecting the enduring legacy of the UAE’s founding figures and the guiding principles steering the nation forward.
