Global Netflix Premiere of 'Homebound' on November 21

Global Netflix Premiere of 'Homebound' on November 21

Post by : Meena Ariff

India’s entry for the 98th Academy Awards, Homebound, is set to launch on Netflix on November 21.

Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Dharma Productions, the film stars Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor in leading roles. It is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, with executive production from Martin Scorsese and Pravin Khairnar. Co-producers include Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan du Plantier.

The plot revolves around childhood friends Shoaib (Khatter) and Chandan (Jethwa), whose shared dream of joining the police force forms a central theme. Janhvi Kapoor provides a critical emotional anchor as the story delves into the challenges of youth, friendship, and duty in India.

Neeraj Ghaywan expressed that the film's release on Netflix is essential following its warm reception at various film festivals. He describes Homebound as a story rooted in real-life events, emphasizing themes of compassion and connection as acts of defiance.

Karan Johar praised the film's depth and intimacy, noting his excitement for its global release on the streaming platform.

The film attracted considerable international interest during its festival circuit, premiering at the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival 2025 and later screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it achieved the position of Second Runner-Up for the International Audience Choice Award.

Homebound will be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix starting November 21.
