At the Dubai Airshow 2025, Indra Group and UAE-based EDGE Group announced a significant step toward a new joint venture in Spain, focused on the development, production, and maintenance of loitering munitions and smart weapons. The partnership aims to cater to Spain, Europe, and selected international markets, with potential for broader defence collaborations.
The MoU was signed by Ángel Escribano, Executive President of Indra, José Vicente de Los Mozos, CEO of Indra, and Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE. This move marks a strategic extension of both companies’ capabilities, leveraging Indra’s growing industrial footprint in Spain alongside EDGE’s expertise in fast-tracked weapons technology.
The joint venture is envisioned to combine European engineering standards with agile manufacturing, providing advanced solutions that allow forces to strike elusive targets efficiently without exposing high-value platforms. This innovation is expected to meet rising demand across defence sectors, particularly in regions seeking sovereignty in weapons development.
The collaboration builds on the foundation laid by PULSE NOVA, a prior joint venture by Indra and EDGE in 2024 focused on radar systems. Now, the focus extends to high-performance, export-ready smart weapons and loitering munitions, reflecting both companies’ ambitions to strengthen their presence in Europe while expanding global market opportunities.
With Spain as the base, the venture could play a pivotal role in Europe’s defence ecosystem, combining industrial scale, technological innovation, and rapid deployment capabilities. Analysts note that such partnerships are increasingly vital in modern defence, balancing strategic autonomy with competitive commercial reach.
