Actor and BJP Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has warmly congratulated the BJP and its leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, for their landmark victory in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
The win carries personal significance for Kangana, whose office attached to her Mumbai bungalow was demolished by the BMC when the Shiv Sena was in power in 2020. With the Shiv Sena now ousted from the BMC, the actor described this result as a form of justice.
“I am overjoyed by the BJP’s sweeping win in the Maharashtra BMC elections. My heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ji, and the entire BJP family in Maharashtra for this overwhelming victory,” Kangana said.
Reflecting on her past experiences, Kangana added, “Those who abused me, demolished my office, and tried to intimidate me to leave Maharashtra have now been rejected by the people.”
She praised the voters for sending a strong message to what she called “women-haters, bullies, and the nepotism mafia.”
Current trends indicate that out of 210 seats declared so far in Mumbai, the BJP is leading in 90 wards, while the faction led by Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena holds 28. The Ajit Pawar-led NCP, contesting separately, leads in only three wards.
Among the opposition, the Shiv Sena (UBT) is ahead in 57 wards, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena in nine, the Congress in 15, and others in eight wards.
This decisive outcome signals the end of the Shiv Sena (UBT)’s longstanding hold over the BMC. The BJP contested 137 seats, the Shiv Sena 90, and the NCP factions put forward separate candidates, reflecting the fractured nature of the contest.
Meanwhile, results from the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal elections indicate a diminishing influence of the Pawar-led factions, as voters did not consolidate support despite tactical alliances.
This election marks a major political shift in Mumbai, firmly establishing BJP’s control over the city’s wealthiest municipal body after years of opposition dominance.
