The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language has commenced its unique celebrations for World Arabic Language Day at the United Nations in New York City. Scheduled from December 2 to 4, this event emphasizes Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing the Arabic language on a global stage. Sponsored by Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees, this initiative underscores the Kingdom’s aspiration to elevate Arabic as one of the UN's official languages.
In collaboration with the Kingdom’s Permanent Mission to the UN, the celebration features various cultural and interactive programs aimed at unveiling the depth and global significance of the Arabic language. These initiatives not only highlight Arabic as a mode of communication but also as a vessel of rich cultural heritage that has influenced numerous languages and civilizations worldwide.
Event attendees participated in dialogue sessions that explored Arabic's role within international organizations, emphasizing its contributions to global understanding, diplomacy, and cultural exchange. Experts elaborated on the vital importance of preserving linguistic diversity and the ongoing significance of Arabic in fostering cross-cultural connections.
Further enriching the event, an exhibition showcased key projects by the Academy, illustrating efforts to enhance Arabic language education, support research, and offer digital resources for learners and scholars. The exhibition also featured exquisite Arabic handicrafts, celebrating the artistic expression intertwined with language, reflecting its deep ties to culture and identity.
High-ranking officials from the UN and representatives from various member states attended, signifying the Arabic language's stature on the global stage and the widespread interest in its cultural and linguistic contributions. This meeting also fostered opportunities for international cooperation in promoting languages as vital instruments for peace and understanding.
The celebrations align seamlessly with the objectives outlined in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, particularly in reinforcing cultural identity and encouraging intercultural dialogue. By hosting these activities at the UN, the Kingdom reaffirms its dedication to both the development of domestic cultural programs and the global sharing of its heritage.
