The MENA Golf Tour’s new season kicked off with excitement at PGA Aroeira in Portugal, where Italian golfer Ludovico Addabbo triumphed by winning his inaugural professional title. With a remarkable finish of 18-under par, he outperformed Portugal’s Pedro Figueiredo by three strokes, capturing the cheers of the home crowd.
This victory not only marks a significant milestone in Addabbo’s golfing career but also secured him the top prize of $18,000 from the overall $100,000 prize fund. His exceptional consistency throughout the three-day event highlighted his readiness to compete at a higher level.
From his first round, Addabbo showed strong command. After sharing the lead with Scotland's Sebastian Sandin on day one, he surged ahead on the second day, establishing himself as the clear leader. With steady focus and smart shots during the final round, he achieved a well-earned victory, confirming his status as a golfer to watch.
The PGA Aroeira Challenge marks the opening of 12 events in this year's MENA Golf Tour schedule, each providing Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points along with the attractive prize purse of $100,000. This series draws emerging talents globally, presenting vital opportunities for golfers to enhance their rankings and gain professional experience.
Next up is the Rolear Algarve Classic in Portugal, set for December 2–4 at the famous Amendoeira course. Competitors from Aroeira will now aim to carry their momentum to this event, or aim for recovery from earlier performances.
Following these Portuguese events, the Tour will proceed to Egypt for four tournaments planned for January and February. This leg is integral to the season, drawing larger participants and providing golfers more chances to ascend in rankings.
The Tour will later continue to Morocco, featuring the unique Q-Sprint event on February 22–23, aimed at offering more players the chance to qualify or elevate their competitive status.
With this victory, Addabbo has positioned himself as a promising contender for the season ahead. His poise, focused gameplay, and strong finish over the three days suggest he can significantly influence the Tour. This win also instills him with confidence for the upcoming challenges.
As the MENA Golf Tour progresses, spectators and fellow players will eagerly watch to see if Addabbo can uphold this remarkable form. While his first title is a noteworthy achievement, it could very well be just the start of a greater journey in his golf career.
