Croatian ace Petra Marcinko secured the 28th title at the Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge, dominating Russian player Vera Zvonareva with a score of 6-3, 6-3 in the final match at Habtoor Grand Resort in Dubai. Demonstrating impressive control throughout the game, the young talent notched an essential win on Emirati territory. This victory comes just after her win at the Fujairah W75 Championships, marking back-to-back accomplishments in the UAE.
At just 20, Marcinko echoes her previous feat of dual victories on the ITF Junior Circuit in 2019, where she won in Fujairah and Dubai. Now, six years later, she stands unique in repeating this honor at these sites. Following the match, she was awarded the championship by Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the organizing committee, alongside prominent officials from the UAE Tennis Federation, including Ahmed Abdul Malik and Nasser Al Marzooki.
This latest title adds to Marcinko's remarkable performance throughout the 2025 season. She initiated the year with her first WTA 125 title at the ATV Tennis Open in Rome, followed by two additional tournament wins in the USA at the Landisville Challenge and the Tyler Challenge during August and October.
With her victory at the Al Habtoor Tennis Challenge, Marcinko enhances her status as one of the most promising up-and-coming players in women's tennis. Her confidence, consistency, and steady development have attracted international acclaim, making her a rising star to follow in forthcoming global tournaments.
