Messi Hat Trick Powers Argentina Past Algeria 3-0

Messi Hat Trick Powers Argentina Past Algeria 3-0

Post by : Shakul

Lionel Messi delivered another unforgettable performance as Argentina defeated Algeria 3-0 in their opening FIFA World Cup 2026 match in Kansas City. The Argentine captain scored all three goals for his side, helping the defending champions start their title defense with a convincing victory.

Emotional Start For Messi

Messi appeared emotional after opening the scoring early in the match. The veteran forward celebrated through tears before receiving support from teammates. Speaking after the game, Messi revealed he had experienced some difficult personal days recently but thanked his teammates and coaching staff for standing by him.

Historic Hat Trick

The 39-year-old superstar completed a brilliant hat trick with goals in both halves, taking his overall World Cup tally to 16 goals. The achievement allowed him to equal German legend Miroslav Klose's all-time World Cup scoring record, placing Messi on the verge of becoming the tournament's highest-ever goal scorer.

Another Milestone In A Legendary Career

The hat trick marked the 61st of Messi’s professional career and his first-ever World Cup hat trick. It also came exactly 20 years after his World Cup debut for Argentina. Messi became only the second player in history to score in five different editions of the FIFA World Cup.

Injury Concerns Put To Rest

Questions surrounding Messi’s recent hamstring injury quickly disappeared as he looked sharp throughout the match. The Inter Miami star controlled the tempo, created chances, and remained the focal point of Argentina’s attack, showing no visible signs of discomfort.

Argentina Eyes Back-To-Back Titles

With Messi leading from the front, Argentina once again looks like one of the strongest contenders for the World Cup trophy. Coach Lionel Scaloni praised his captain’s influence and performance, describing him as extraordinary and irreplaceable for the national team.

Fans Celebrate Another Messi Masterclass

More than 69,000 fans witnessed the historic performance, with Argentina supporters turning Kansas City into a sea of blue and white. As Messi left the field to a standing ovation, many fans celebrated what could be another defining chapter in the career of one of football’s greatest players.
