Power Cut During Surgery Sparks Outrage in Pak

Power Cut During Surgery Sparks Outrage in Pak

Post by : Shakul

A shocking incident has emerged from Lahore, where a major power outage disrupted surgeries at Services Hospital Lahore, triggering widespread outrage and raising serious concerns about patient safety. The blackout reportedly struck operation theatres in the middle of ongoing critical procedures, putting lives at immediate risk.

Doctors were forced to continue life-saving surgeries under extremely challenging conditions, relying on mobile phone flashlights after backup generators failed. Initial reports indicate that the generators could not function due to a fuel shortage, highlighting severe lapses in emergency preparedness within the hospital system.

The situation has also sparked controversy over alleged inequality in healthcare services. Reports suggest that while operation theatres were plunged into darkness, VIP wards in the hospital continued to receive uninterrupted electricity, intensifying public anger and criticism over preferential treatment in critical situations.

This incident has once again exposed deeper issues in the ongoing power crisis in Pakistan, where frequent electricity outages are increasingly affecting essential services, including healthcare. Experts warn that such disruptions can have life-threatening consequences, especially during critical medical procedures.

Authorities have taken notice of the incident and are expected to initiate an investigation into the matter. However, public outrage continues to grow, with many demanding accountability, better infrastructure, and immediate reforms to prevent such dangerous situations in the future.

Overall, the episode highlights serious systemic failures in both power management and healthcare infrastructure, raising urgent concerns about the safety and reliability of medical services in the country.
