Thailand has taken another step toward strengthening its grassroots economy with the launch of the Ru Rak Samakkhi Phatthalung Social Enterprise Store at Trang Airport. The initiative aims to expand market opportunities for community-made products while supporting local entrepreneurs and preserving regional cultural identity.
The store was officially inaugurated on June 7, 2026, by Deputy Interior Minister Worasit Liengprasit at Trang Airport. The opening ceremony was attended by provincial leaders, government officials, representatives of social enterprises, and partner organizations from both Trang and Phatthalung provinces.
Speaking at the event, Worasit said the name "Ru Rak Samakkhi," which translates to "Know, Love, and Unite," represents the spirit of cooperation and unity among the people of Phatthalung. He emphasized that the project showcases the province's finest local wisdom, quality OTOP products, traditional handicrafts, and unique agricultural offerings.
The new outlet provides a strategic platform for local producers by placing their products in one of the region's busiest travel gateways. Tourists and airport visitors will now have easier access to authentic community products, local food specialties, handicrafts, and souvenirs that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Phatthalung.
Officials noted that the initiative aligns with the government's policy to create sustainable income opportunities, generate employment, and strengthen local economies. By expanding sales channels beyond traditional markets, community entrepreneurs can reach a broader customer base and increase business growth.
Dr. Natee Ratchakitprakarn, President of Pracharath Phatthalung Social Enterprise Co., Ltd., highlighted that the project operates under a participatory development model that encourages cooperation between government agencies, private businesses, and local communities. The goal is to create long-term economic and social benefits for residents.
The launch of the Ru Rak Samakkhi Phatthalung Store is expected to boost tourism-related spending, increase visibility for local brands, and serve as a model for community-driven economic development. Authorities hope the project will become a sustainable marketing hub that helps preserve local traditions while improving livelihoods across Phatthalung Province.
