Eight Injured in Seven-Vehicle Crash on PLUS Expressway

Eight people were injured in a major seven-vehicle pile-up on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) near Gopeng, Perak, on Monday. The accident involved a container lorry, two vans and four passenger vehicles, causing traffic disruption along the busy highway.

Emergency Response Activated

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call through the MERS 999 system at 4:29 pm. Firefighters from the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the accident site at Km291 of the expressway.

Victims Escaped Without Being Trapped

Upon arrival, rescue personnel found that none of the victims were trapped inside their vehicles. All occupants had managed to exit safely before emergency teams reached the scene, allowing firefighters to focus on medical assistance and road safety operations.

Vehicles Involved In The Crash

Authorities confirmed that the collision involved a container lorry, a Toyota Lite Ace van, a Toyota Hiace van, a Honda HR-V, a Perodua Bezza, a Perodua Axia and a Toyota Vios. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Two Victims Seriously Injured

The lorry driver suffered minor injuries during the incident. Three occupants of the Toyota Lite Ace van were injured, including two who sustained serious injuries. Four occupants travelling in the Toyota Hiace van also suffered minor injuries. The occupants of the four cars escaped without injury.

Injured Taken To Hospital

All injured victims received initial medical attention at the scene before being handed over to Health Ministry personnel. Ambulances later transported the victims to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for further treatment and observation.

Rescue Operation Completed Safely

Firefighters deployed a first-aid hose line to clear debris and remove oil spilled on the road surface. The clean-up operation was carried out to ensure the safety of other motorists using the highway. Authorities confirmed that the operation concluded at 6:02 pm after the area was declared safe.
