New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written the foreword for the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s autobiography, I Am Giorgia: My Roots, My Principles, which will be launched in India by Rupa Publications. In the foreword, PM Modi praised Meloni’s dedication to public service and highlighted her inspiring journey.
According to Modi, Meloni’s life “has never been about politics or power. It is about her courage, conviction, and commitment to public service and the people of Italy.” He noted that while many were initially sceptical about her leadership, she has proven to be a pragmatic and capable leader, giving strength and stability to Italy.
PM Modi also drew a connection between Meloni’s journey and the Indian concept of Nari Shakti, or divine feminine energy, emphasizing her resilience, purpose, and commitment to cultural heritage. He said her story resonates deeply with India, as she balances leadership with dedication to family, tradition, and national values, while engaging with global challenges responsibly.
“Her rise from a modest neighbourhood in Rome to Italy’s highest office demonstrates the power of purpose over narrow partisan politics,” Modi wrote. He also highlighted her efforts to defend motherhood, national identity, and tradition, describing the autobiography as a personal and candid insight into her life.
The Indian Prime Minister added that the strong ties between India and Italy go beyond trade and treaties, emphasizing shared respect for heritage, community, and the celebration of womanhood. Modi described his personal friendship with Meloni as a symbol of these shared values and expressed confidence that the book will be warmly received by Indian readers.
The friendship between PM Modi and PM Meloni has often captured public attention on social media, with both leaders sharing videos, selfies, and interactions that have become widely popular online.
