Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Claudia Sheinbaum, the President of Mexico, for the first time during the G7 Summit in Canada. This meeting was special because Claudia Sheinbaum was the first woman to become President of Mexico in 200 years. PM Modi congratulated her on this historic win and wished her success.

During their talk, PM Modi thanked President Sheinbaum for Mexico’s support in India’s fight against terrorism. They both agreed that India and Mexico have a long-standing friendship and should work together even more in the future.

The two leaders discussed how both countries can help each other in many areas, such as trade, investment, start-ups, science, technology, and the automotive industry. They also talked about making it easier for people from both countries to visit and learn from each other. PM Modi pointed out that India could help Mexico by providing affordable medicines and working together in agriculture and health.

President Sheinbaum praised India’s progress in technology and innovation and said she wants Mexico to cooperate with India in these fields. PM Modi suggested that both countries should also work together on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technology, and important minerals.

Both leaders said they want to see more cultural exchanges and tourism between India and Mexico. They also shared their views on important world issues and agreed to focus on the needs of developing countries, known as the Global South.
