Russia Launches Deadly Missile Strike On Kyiv

Russia Launches Deadly Missile Strike On Kyiv

Post by : Shakul

A massive Russian aerial assault struck Kyiv on Sunday after waves of drones and missiles targeted the Ukrainian capital, killing at least two people and injuring several others. Ukrainian officials confirmed that Russia used its powerful Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile during the attack, marking one of the most significant escalations in recent weeks.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the overnight assault involved a coordinated barrage of explosive drones and long-range missile strikes aimed at residential neighborhoods and strategic infrastructure. Emergency sirens echoed across Kyiv as residents rushed into underground shelters during the intense bombardment.

Photographs from the scene showed damaged apartment buildings, shattered windows and emergency crews carrying injured civilians from destroyed areas. Volunteers from the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement assisted wounded residents inside emergency shelters while firefighters battled flames caused by the explosions.

Ukrainian authorities stated that the Oreshnik hypersonic missile was used for the third time since the beginning of the war. Military experts say hypersonic weapons travel at extremely high speeds and are far more difficult to intercept than traditional ballistic missiles, increasing the threat level for cities under attack.

The strike has intensified fears of further escalation in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, especially as attacks on major urban centers continue to grow in scale and frequency. Officials in Kyiv accused Moscow of deliberately targeting civilian areas in an attempt to spread fear and pressure Ukraine’s leadership.

Rescue operations continued throughout the day as emergency teams searched damaged buildings for survivors and cleared debris from residential streets. Hospitals in Kyiv also remained on high alert while authorities assessed the full extent of casualties and structural damage caused by the assault.

The latest attack comes amid ongoing international concern over the humanitarian impact of the conflict. Western allies have repeatedly condemned missile and drone strikes on civilian infrastructure while continuing military and humanitarian support for Ukraine.

Analysts believe the use of advanced hypersonic weapons could signal a new phase in the conflict, raising concerns about regional security and the growing sophistication of modern warfare technologies.
