Sharon Osbourne Reflects on Ozzy's Tender Farewell Moments

Sharon Osbourne Reflects on Ozzy's Tender Farewell Moments

Post by : Meena Ariff

Sharon Osbourne has opened up for the first time about the poignant final moments she experienced with her husband, the iconic rocker Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away in July at the age of 76. The frontman of Black Sabbath had faced numerous severe health challenges in recent years, including Parkinson’s disease, ongoing infections, and recurrent pneumonia.

During her recent appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Sharon recounted Ozzy’s last words to her, which were both tender and straightforward: “Kiss me. Hug me tight.” She reminisced about their time awake in the early hours as he struggled to move to the bathroom. Around 4:30 a.m., he requested her to fully wake up and hold him close—a moment she now cherishes deeply.

The following morning, Ozzy went downstairs to exercise as he frequently had, despite his declining health. Moments later, chaos ensued. Sharon recalled hearing screams and rushed to find paramedics attempting to revive him after what she believes was a sudden heart attack. Even while rescuers administered CPR and subsequently airlifted him to the hospital, she instinctively felt that he had already departed.

In the days prior to his death, Ozzy experienced vivid, troubling dreams about unfamiliar faces. Sharon noted that he often talked about these dreams, becoming increasingly aware that his life was approaching its conclusion. He even inquired if she would ever marry again—a question she dismissed with humor and disbelief.

Despite medical warnings, Ozzy was adamant about performing one last concert with Black Sabbath just weeks before his passing. Doctors cautioned that the effort could be fatal, but he was resolute in thanking his fans for their years of support. Sharon revealed that he was in significant pain due to sepsis and multiple infections, yet performing brought him profound happiness.

Ozzy’s final show saw him reuniting with his original Black Sabbath bandmates for the first time in 20 years. Sharon shared that he was overwhelmed by the immense love shown by fans, recognizing how deeply people cherished him and his music.

The Osbourne family announced his passing on July 22, surrounded by loved ones at home. Following the news, thousands of fans gathered in Birmingham, Ozzy’s hometown, as a funeral procession carried him through the city that defined his life and career. Sharon, along with their children Jack and Kelly, followed the hearse, pausing to read heartfelt messages left by mourning fans. A private family funeral took place after the procession.
