His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has formally launched the Games of the Future 2025 in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for December 18 to 23 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The ceremony welcomed dignitaries including Azerbaijan's President, His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, as well as numerous high-ranking officials. Sheikh Mohamed extended his best wishes to all participants of this international sports gathering.

Highlighting the significance of hosting the Games of the Future, Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the UAE's emergence as a leading global hub for innovation and progressive sports. The event is set to fuse conventional competitive athletics with cutting-edge technology, creating a unique sporting landscape tailored for future generations. The UAE also provides a hospitable platform for young athletes from across the globe to connect, share, and engage in competition within a respectful atmosphere.

Among the attendees at the opening event were prominent UAE figures such as Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with ministers, senior officials, and international delegation heads. Notable guests, including Her Excellency Tatyana Golikova, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, also graced the occasion.

This year, more than 850 athletes from over 60 nations are participating in the Games of the Future. The event innovatively combines physical sports with digital gaming, resulting in hybrid competitions that challenge both physical prowess and digital talent. This edition boasts an exceptionally diverse array of competitors, underscoring the potential of modern sports to intertwine technology with traditional play.

The opening ceremony featured the UAE national anthem, captivating visual displays, and storytelling elements celebrating the athletes and their achievements. Advanced technologies highlighted the themes of future sports and innovation throughout the festivities.

During his address, His Excellency Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai emphasized the UAE's commitment to innovation and youth empowerment, stating that the Games of the Future symbolize more than mere competition. They reflect how today’s youth engage within both the physical and digital realms. By hosting this landmark event, Abu Dhabi is enhancing its stature as a global hub for hybrid sports and impactful innovation.
