This announcement, made on November 13, 2025, by Sundar C’s spokesperson, went viral on various social media platforms almost immediately. Earlier that same day, Sundar C’s wife, Khushbu Sundar, had posted the news on Instagram only to remove it shortly thereafter.

Discussing the matter, Sundar C remarked, “Due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances, I have made the tough choice to withdraw from the esteemed project, #Thalaivar173.”

In a heartfelt note, he reflected on his long-standing association with the renowned stars, stating, “In life, we sometimes must follow paths that stray from our envisioned dreams. I will continue to draw on their inspiration and wisdom as I move forward.”

Sundar C also conveyed his heartfelt apologies to Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan for his decision to leave the film. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “Though I am stepping away from this prospect, I remain eager to seek their guidance. My sincere thanks to them for considering me for this monumental project. I apologize to those disappointed by this news and am dedicated to making it up to you with future entertainment that lifts your spirits.”
