With only three days remaining until its debut, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is generating significant excitement among moviegoers. Advance ticket sales commenced on Monday for the inaugural weekend, initially covering 2,000 screenings, with more being added due to overwhelming demand. The morning hours witnessed a surge in ticket purchases, though the momentum waned somewhat as the day progressed.
Within mere hours on Monday, the film surpassed ₹1 crore in pre-sales. By Tuesday afternoon, first-day earnings hit approximately ₹1.4 crore, with weekend estimates likely to exceed ₹2 crore. This surge comes amid elevated ticket prices, averaging ₹310 for standard and IMAX showings. Premium viewings, particularly at INOX Maison in Mumbai priced at ₹1,620, are already fully booked for Friday, while tickets above ₹1,500 in locations like Gurgaon also quickly vanished.
Industry experts indicate that although Dhurandhar’s initial sales are impressive, it faces tough competition from recent prominent action and spy films. Ranveer Singh’s previous blockbuster, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, gathered nearly ₹4 crore in pre-sales earlier this year. Analysts suggest that while Dhurandhar has strong potential, reaching a ₹10 crore milestone in advance sales may prove difficult.
Helmed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy infiltrating the gangs of Lyari, Pakistan. This narrative takes cues from real-life events and features notable historical figures from Pakistan’s contemporary landscape. The film also includes performances from Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Sara Arjun. Dhurandhar is slated for theatrical release on December 5.
